If you are looking for some great fall fun, you don’t have to look far when staying with us at our inn in Middlebury, VT. We are surrounded by beauty during every season, but fall in particular is just spectacular with the vivid array of colors popping out at every turn. In addition to the beauty, there is just an endless list of things to do, places to see, and fun to be had. Fort Ticonderoga, about 45 minutes from our in, is an expansive 18th-century star fort in northern New York and on the south end of Lake Champlain. They offer a whole host of things to see and do but one special event we want to share with you is the Heroic Maze!

Nothing says fall like a delicious cup of apple cider or a melt in your mouth pumpkin doughnut but you can’t forget about the traditional corn maze! Fort Ticonderoga has created a 6-acre corn maze that isn’t your run of the mill local farm maze in a cornfield. No, this unique life size puzzle is full of winding paths that are sure to test your best navigational skills.

The maze, while challenging, is safe for all ages and provides easy exit for anyone who has lost his or her way. It is actually divided into two phases: the Kiddie Maze for children up to age four and “Engineer a Fort” Maze Quest. This latter phase includes 8 stations and you get a stamp on your Quest Card when you find each station. It is designed to be challenging but very fun for anyone who is up for an adventure.

The Heroic Maze is included with general admission and will be open through October 18, 2015. There are however, two special evenings where you can experience the maze at night. Bring your flashlights out on October 23 or 24, 2015 and try your best to find your way under the light of the moon. Visit the fort’s website for further details. Don’t let the leaves fall before making your way to this gorgeous area of Vermont! Our luxurious, relaxing rooms are waiting for you so plan the perfect fall getaway today.
