The early part of fall has cooler days, a slower pace, the students coming back to the college, and the picking of apples. Our county is famous for the apples. Stop by a local orchard stand to taste the multiple varieties of apples, and don’t forget the apple cider and cider donuts, yes donuts! October brings the colors and the visitors. Plan ahead for this time of year as our rooms fill fast! The culinary team in our kitchen switches over to the fall delights. Finally, the cool days turn to cold nights, and we start the fireplaces. Fly Fishing in Vermont

Enjoy two nights at the Swift House and a day of fly fishing for two. In the Fall time the trout are active and feeding to get ready for the long winter. The Browns are spawning and are big and angry! The local Middlebury rivers and streams are teaming with Rainbow and Brown trout waiting for you. You will be accompanied by a local guide from Stream and Brook , providing local knowledge and everything from useful tips to teaching you how to fly fish. Everyone from those who have never fished to the most experienced will enjoy this package. Package includes 2 nights lodging, one dinner for 2, a day of guided fly fishing with lunch and a fly box with local flies. Rates are for two people fishing; if only one is fishing the second person will enjoy a massage at a local spa. Package ranges from $700 to $900, depending on Main House or Carriage House room selection and weekday or weekend. (Package is subject to availability of guide and spa; gratuities for guide and masseuse are not included).

Thanksgiving in Vermont

Fall in Vermont can be quite spectacular, but when the leaves are gone that can only mean the holidays are just around the corner. Thanksgiving is a special time to celebrate the harvest of the year, and we would like to invite you to our celebration. For our guests, we are offering an 18 percent discount for a stay of at least two nights. Combine this with a traditional Thanksgiving dinner served in our Main Dining Room for $35 per person.
