Like a home away from home, this is the place to reconnect with friends and family, disconnect from the world, and start new traditions.

Snow, snow, snow:  if not a lot here in the valley, then look in the mountains, which are perfect for cross country skiing in Vermont!

Along with the snow, Vermont has many ski areas.  Twelve miles from the Swift House Inn is Middlebury College’s Rikert Touring Center, located at the Bread Loaf Campus of Middlebury College.  The Center provides a winter recreation area for cross-country enthusiasts and is bordered by the Green Mountain National Forest.  These woodlands provide unspoiled natural beauty near the top of the Green Mountain range.  The Touring Center offers 42 kilometers of prepared trails, both picturesque and challenging, for every level of ability.  A short distance from the Rikert Center is the Blueberry Hill Cross Country Center, which has 75 kilometers of groomed trails.  Both Centers have a pro shop, rentals, and lessons.  Even if you’ve never enjoyed the exercise and beauty of cross country skiing, these centers are the perfect place to start.
